TownScape USB Anti-Virus 2013 is a simple-to-use program that protects computers from infected USB flash disks, such as the autorun.inf file. It also provides an automatic scanning module for the computer.
The interface is not particularly attractive but very easy to work with. Once a pen drive is plugged into the computer unit, TownScape USB Anti-Virus 2013 scans it for any errors and resolves the issues immediately, without user intrvention.
Infections are sent to the quarantine, where you can restore or permanently remove them from the computer. In the main application window you can view total found threats, along with their date and time stamps.
You can create a blacklist with viruses to keep TownScape USB Anti-Virus 2013 on guard at all times, ask the program to continue in background mode to remain minimally invasive, as well as attempt to fix some system areas that are usually targeted by viruses, such as Task Manager, Registry Editor and Folder Options.
As far as program settings are concerned, you can disable sounds, notiffications, the virus blacklist, and the startup splash. When not in use, TownScape USB Anti-Virus 2013 minimizes to the system tray area.
The application is very prompt at detecting infections. During our tests it managed to identify two malware agents that infiltrated into our computer (previously undetected by other antivirus products), and also placed into the quarantine the autorun.inf file of a pen drive we used.
TownScape is low demanding when it comes to CPU and memory, has an excellent reaction speed and does not interrupt normal user activity. Although it cannot double as a full-protection antivirus application, TownScape USB Anti-Virus 2013 is certainly worth taking into account when it comes to preventing USB-oriented malware.
